Bullish on Webcam Creativity
posted 9 months agoI’ve found that there’s always a question around interactive creative ideas that use webcams. Like… what’s the penetration of webcams? Will people bother to turn it on and do it?
With the continued growth of video-chatting on iPhone, Facebook, and now the whole video “hangout” thing on Google+, clearly the idea of digital facetime is growing. But Two new creative campaigns are using webcam technology in interesting new ways that may be signaling a significant step forward for its use in creative as well.
One is Frijj Milkshakes, for whose brand promise of “surprising taste” have created a webcam game that tests how long you can watch random wierd youtube clips without bursting out laughing.

Another is AXE, for whose “premature perspiration” deodorant campaign has created an “Oh face” cam.

It will be interesting to see if webcam creativity picks up and where it goes in the coming year.
